Dr Igbinosa is a senior academic staff at the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, University of Benin, Benin-City, Nigeria. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, Masters of Science (Cum laude) and PhD degrees in Microbiology at the University of Fort Hare, South Africa. She was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship in the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Pretoria, South Africa. Dr Isoken Igbinosa has been engaged in long-term dedication to furthering of education, sustained impact and commitment to leadership. Findings from her work has made a significant contribution to the understanding of how to combat antibiotic resistance, food-borne pathogen and water quality for proffering solutions to the myriad of water-related challenges in Africa.

She has led a project which provided new insight that stimulated important research findings on heavy metals in harvested rainwater. Isoken’s research findings have addressed the relationship between human, social and technological development and the quality of water resources. She has looked at the occurrence and fate of heavy metals in water systems.
