Bio

Dr. Arungu-Olende obtained his PhD in Power Systems Engineering at the University of London (1968). He was the leading consultant of the “Monitoring and evaluation” section of a Project of Ministry of Roads and Public Works of Kenya focusing on the socio-economic impact and HIV/AIDS assessment.

He was also: Lecturer, Senior Lecturer at the University of Nairobi, The African Academy of Sciences (The AAS) Secretary-General. He was UN member of Africa Region for the preparation of the World Summit on Sustainable Development, and Technical Secretary on Energy at the UN.

His research interests include Energy and sustainable development, engineering systems design and analysis, Science and Technology policy studies and development, economics systems analysis and planning. He is a member of the Inter-Academy Council (Netherland), a Senior System Analyst (NASA), Visiting Scholar (USA), a fellow of the Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers.
