Bio

Prof Banyaga was educated in Switzerland where he obtained B.Sc. in 1971, M.Sc. in 1972 and PhD in 1976 from the University of Geneva. He is currently at the Department of Mathematics of the Pennsylvania State University.

He held his first position in New Jersey at the Institute of Advance study of Princeton in 1977, and then moved to Harvard University as Assistant Professor in 1978, became Associate Professor in 1984 and Professor in 1992.

He was visiting Professor at the University of Louvain in Belgium, Warwick in UK; Butare in Rwanda, Porto Novo in Benin; Maryland and Howard in USA. His research interests are in algebra, geometry, typology, contact, poisson, and dynamics sympletic, locally conformal sympletic, volume preserving and measure preserving diffeomorphisms of smooth manifolds.

He has collaborations with Professional Organizations and Scientific Institutions; also has national and international awards and recognitions. He has 70 articles and 2 books published.
