Prof. Ben Lakhdar obtained her M.Sc. in 1968, Thesis of 3e Cycle in 1971 and Doctorate in 1978 at University of Pierre and Marie Curie in France where she held the position of Lecturer in 1969; went back to Tunisia and became Professor in 1984 at the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis.


She is the founding President of the Tunisian Society of Optics. She has served as Director of LSAMA (that involves 35% of women researchers) and her research interests are in atomic and molecular physics-collisions, astrophysics, plasma, optics-photonics, space science-space techniques, environment-Air pollution-water pollution, biotechnology, teaching of physics, science education – research and technology development in Africa, science history, space occupation and the future for mankind.

She has collaborations with professional societies and Scientific Institutions and, she also has several national, regional and international recognitions and awards. She has 58 publications in journals, 55 papers on communication and Seminars.
