Bio

Dr. Jones obtained his PhD in 1983 from the University of Birmingham in UK. Currently, he is member of the Africa Vision 2020 committee. He began his professional research career at the National Rice Research Station at Rokupr in Sierra Leone in 1975 where he pioneered research in rice breeding and rice varietal improvement program.

Later, he was successively appointed at the IITA station in Cameroon and at the West Africa Rice research Association (WARDA) where he coordinated rice research projects and initiated the biotechnology program. He was Deputy Director of Research and Executive Secretary of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) in Ghana.

Since his appointment at FARA, he has been actively involved in creating awareness that coordinated efforts in agricultural research for development and increased African ownership that would enhance effective African Agricultural research. He has national and international awards and recognitions, also has collaborations with professional organizations and Scientific Institutions. He has 49 publications.
