Prof. Okojie obtained his M.F (Forest Mensuration/Statistics) in 1976 from Yale University and PhD in forest resource management from the University of Ibadan in 1981.

He then held a position of lecturer  at the Faculty of Agriculture and forestry of the University of Ibadan. He has served at the University of Agriculture of Abeokuta (Nigeria) as Senior lecturer, rose through the ranks and became full professor in 1990 in the same University.

His research interests include forest resources management with emphasis on mensuration, growth and yield of plantation species, natural forest in Nigeria, biodiversity and environmental impact assessment. He has been Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, Dean of the College of Environmental Resources Management, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (1994-95) and Vice Chancellor of the University (1996). 

He has served  as Postgraduate Coordinator and Co-ordinator of the National Committee on lost crops of Nigeria. He has been Chairman of the Ceremonials committee, Chairman of the Committee for University Rules and Regulations and Chairman of the farm development Board. Also; he served as member of the Curriculum Development Committee and member of projects monitoring Committee. He is member of Commonwealth forestry Association and several other professional societies. He has national and international awards and recognitions
