Professor Ambaliou SANNI has started his carrier at the University of Abomey-Calavi (Benin) with a Doctorate (Doctorat de 3ème cycle) degree in Biochemistry, structure and function of proteins. Later on he has completed a Doctorat d’Etat es Sciences, Molecular Biology.

He has built his career on this particular domain, and the outputs of his research activities are of global impact. He has contributed to a better understanding of the primary structure, as well as the functioning, of cytoplasmic and mitochondrial forms of phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase, two complex key enzymes involved in proteins synthesis.

He has created the first well-established laboratory of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at University of Abomey-Calavi.  So that his team has been involved in many area of research in which biochemistry and molecular biology are needed. This has allowed building research collaborations within Africa, Europe and Canada. Consequently, several research topics were developed by his team around this platform including Biomedical, plant genetic resources and environmental researches.

Professor SANNI held a position of head of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Sciences and Technics  and was a Director of Post Graduate school of Life Sciences at the University of Abomey-Calavi.  

He held for five (5) years a position of General Director of higher education of Repubic of Benin.

 

He is a Member of the regional committee of experts of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie
