The AAS through the Grand Challenges Africa programme has been, seeking to address the challenges facing the African innovation ecosystem by providing funding in the form of seed and full grants to the continent’s most impressive innovators. To date, GC Africa has provided 62 grants to innovators in Africa. In implementing GC Africa, the AAS has noted that innovation requires long term investment to enable scientists to translate their ideas into products and for scale up which, also calls for the need of diverse players and resources, including industry, angel investors, researchers/ innovators, venture capitalists, business development and other technical skills, such as accountants, designers, contract manufacturers to thrive. The webinar will be an opportunity to discuss ways in which these players can contribute to provide opportunities for innovators to thrive.
