2022 Call for Nominations for the African Academy of Sciences Fellowship
The AAS is honored to welcome 29 distinguished scholars who have been elected to be Fellows of the African Academy of Sciences (FAAS).
The 29 scholars were elected through a rigorous process following a call for applications for the 2021 round of AAS Fellowships. The new Fellows bring experience from across the globe and from a cross-section of scientific disciplines.
As part the AAS’ mandate of recognizing excellence in Africa, the AAS celebrates Africa’s best talent by electing to its membership outstanding scholars who have attained the highest level of excellence in their scientific field and have made significant contributions to the advancement of science regionally and globally. The AAS Fellowships are categorized as follows:
Of the 29 new members, three are Honorary Fellows, five Associate Fellows, and 21 Fellows, as detailed in this booklet.

2022 Call for Nominations for the African Academy of Sciences Fellowship
We are pleased to inform you that the 2022 Call for Nominations for the African Academy of Sciences Fellowship is now open.
Nominations are submitted by the current AAS Fellows and Associate Fellows. However, individuals who are interested in becoming Fellows of AAS may themselves approach an AAS Fellow to nominate them. Profiles of Fellows of the AAS are available on our website and once you identify a Fellow/Associate Fellow, you may contact the AAS Secretariat to put you in touch with Fellows who can nominate you.
